I know it is more common on Server platforms, but what about Desktops and Laptops? Also, would you buy a system with Linux if it did everything you needed to do such as Graphics, Spreadsheets, Word Processing, Internet Browsing, E-Mail at an extremely low cost with high value?

I am trying to network a Windows Xp server to a Linux Ubuntu computer. The linux ubuntu has dectected the server I see it on the linux computer but the Windows xp Server is not detecting it. What should I do? Please Let me know step by step preferably. thanks!
I think the Windows Server may need password permissions if so how do i do this?
Thanks Darwin..I know about that link already I created it but have not as of yet recieved any help on it. I need Help. I have to have it today because my boss is breathing down my neck on it.
Hi Lyn, I do beg to differ. It is a HP Windows Xp Server (its not a server server its a computer server) and it is not detecting the Linux Ubuntu workstation. I need to get it to detect. Today I hope.

In the earlier days of Linux they kept talking about Linux taking over the desktop, in addition to the server rooms. It would only be a matter of time.

Why hasn’t that happened? Why don’t we see Linux running everyone’s desktop now? Why is linux still relegated almost exclusively to the server room?
